Max heart rate, explained
Every heart rate zone is a slice of one number, your max heart rate. When that number is off, every zone drawn from it is off too.
Most charts guess the max from age. The guess is right on average and can miss a single runner by a wide margin, in either direction.
This series covers the calculator, the chart by age, the formulas and where each one came from, and how to find the max your own workouts have already shown.
